Kertu. Love is Blind

After Midsummer's Day Kertu (Ursula Ratasepp) goes missing without a trace. Her family panics as due to her modest and withdrawn nature she is considered a simpleton. After a long search the trembling Kertu is found hiding under the bed of the liquor-loving womanizer Villu (Mait Malmsten). The judgmental villagers chastise Villu and accuse him of taking advantage of the woman. But what had really happened that night? The slowly unravelling truth is more shocking than anyone could ever imagine.

Written and directed by Ilmar Raag the motion picture “Kertu” is an unusual love story that takes place within a tiny village community and depicts hidden relationships of the villagers and one family. The film asks about a person’s right to love and to happiness even if the right to make decisions has been taken away.
